Overview - Collection modules

A project requires at least one collection module to display a survey on the screen of the interviewer or the respondent. It controls the questionnaire which will be used, how it will be accessed, the web server on which it will be deployed, and configurations which determine its runtime mode and the appearance (look and feel) of the questionnaire as presented to the user. There are several basic types of collection module. Note: The availability of some of them, such as CAPI, depends on the server installation:

  1. CATI (the user is an interviewer). Note: This type applies whether or not the Pronto telephony server is used.

  2. CAWI (the user is the respondent).

  3. CAPI (the user is an interviewer conducting a face-to-face interview using either a laptop computer or mobile device).

A CAPI module supports a centrally managed project which requires data collection to be conducted on independent personal computers or mobile devices; this is also known as face-to-face interviewing. It allows each interviewer to conduct surveys while not being connected to the Internet or to any network.  Configuration of interviewer-specific quotas, messaging etc. is made in the CAPI Settings. The dispatch of sample to interviewers, updating of project files, and repatriation of survey data, is automatically performed when an interviewer's independent computer connects to a Synchronization Server or Mobile Server via the Internet.

Note: CAPI collection is only available and visible if enabled.

  1. Acuity4 Survey (the user is the respondent).

Note: Acuit4 Survey collection is only available and visible if enabled.

For any given project, each collection type has a single configuration of Settings and Appearance. However, within each collection type you can create as many collection modules as you require, each with its own configuration settings. Note: The name that you give to a collection module must be unique to the collection type within the Context i.e. it is not sufficient that it be unique to the project, see CATI, CAWI, CAPI, Acuity4Survey collection modules.
