About Screens

The Screens tab enables you to assemble more than one question on a screen, and also to fully customize the content and presentation of a screen. Thus, you may collect the responses to several questions on the same screen, as you would on a paper form, or even fill a whole screen with the text for a single question. The Command Center provides two principal approaches to combining more than one question on a screen:

  1. Template-type screen. In surveys, certain ways of grouping questions on a screen are particularly common. For example, similar rating questions about a series of topics are typically placed on a single screen.  For these situations you can use special pre-prepared templates whose application will save work, time, and avoid errors.

  2. Text-type (customized) screen. When the pre-prepared templates (see above) are not sufficient, you can fully customize the layout of a screen. The Text-type screen's 'Screen Options' window is the place where you refer to the file containing the HTML code. A reference to the HTML code is made by means of an INCLUDE instruction. See Custom Screens (HTML), INCLUDE function.

The use of a Template or a Text (customized) screen type for the same group of questions is mutually exclusive. Whatever method you use, however, you must first choose the beginning and ending question for the screen. Then you select the screen Type (either a Template or Text) to design the Screen.

Once you have put together a screen, you will most likely wish to see what it will look like. To do this, you can use the Preview screen button, of you can view it by testing the survey.
