A4Survey (A4S, for short) links and modules are available under the Project menu whenever the "A4Survey module type" has been selected in the Project Settings. The page is divided into two halves: the lower part for configuring and adding the A4S module itself, and the upper part contains links to functions which apply to the survey in the A4S system.
The screen-shot below shows the A4Survey links and functions which apply to the A4Survey module presented in the lower pane; they are presented in 3 sections: A4Survey Links, Update, and Questionnaire Synchronization Status:

The modules menu bar allows you to configure, create, edit and delete the A4S CAWI module. Once created you can only edit (change) the module name. The screen-shot below shows that the module was created using the 'Link to existing survey' option.
To the right of the A4S module are commands for previewing the survey, testing it , taking it, and stopping/activating it:
Control |
|
Description |
Preview |
Allows you to test the A4S questionnaire as currently programmed but not necessarily the version that might be online. |
|
Test Survey |
Runs the A4S questionnaire which is currently online. Note: When testing the survey no data will be written to the project database. |
|
Take Survey |
Runs the A4S questionnaire in live mode. Note:The survey will be run "live". A case record will be created or loaded according to the Sample Mode specified in the configuration; collected data will be written to the project database. The case launched can depend on the state of the Field i.e. call-backs, strata/quotas etc. |
|
Stops or activates the collection module and the corresponding A4S survey. Note: Synchronization of cases (respondents) and quotas only occurs if the module is active. |
The settings are described below:
Setting |
|
Description |
Module Name |
The name for the collection module. Note: The name must be unique to the collection type within the Context i.e. it is not sufficient that it be unique to the project. |
|
Create a new survey |
Will create a new survey in A4S and translate the project's default questionnaire. |
|
Link to existing survey |
Links the module to the A4S survey chosen from the list which will be presented when the Accept command is executed. |
|
A4S Survey |
The name of the A4S survey generated when creating a new survey or linking to an existing survey (see above) |
|
Synchronize Quotas |
When this option is selected, the A4S survey strata/quotas definitions are created from the Command Center project definitions. The A4S survey completed survey counters are updated periodically (currently set to 5 minutes) to reflect the Command Center project counters. The A4S survey strata/quotas page will not permit any modification, and a message is displayed to inform that the quotas are synchronized. Note: In the Command Center project, strata/quota counters are always updated to reflect changes on the A4S survey data. |
|
Remove Completed Cases from A4S |
If checked then completed cases will be deleted from the A4 Survey database when they are successfully synchronized with the Command Center. Default 'Unchecked'. |
|
Synchronize Case Ids. |
If checked then Command Center cases uploaded to A4S or created in A4S will have the same Case Id in both databases. Default 'Unchecked'. |
|
Questionnaire |
You can select a specific questionnaire to apply to the A4 Survey module. If a questionnaire is selected, it will be the one used when synchronizing the questionnaire between the Command Center and A4S |
