Questions menu

The Questions menu allows you to manage the questions included in your projects and to navigate through them. It also allows you to find and replace text strings in selected attributes of questions.

Note: To save time, you can use the menu commands keyboard equivalents which are documented in the menu itself:

Command

Description

Insert before

This command inserts a new question before the question highlighted in the Question list.  You can also insert a question by right-clicking on it in the Question list and selecting “Insert a question” in the dialog box that pops up. You may then fill-in the question's various attributes. The subsequent questions will be automatically renumbered.

Erase

This command erases the question highlighted in the Question list.  You can also erase a question by right-clicking on it in the Question list and selecting “Cut” in the dialog box that pops up. The subsequent questions will be renumbered.

Notes:

  • If the erased question is referenced by another question, a warning will be issued when you exit Design (Exit command).

  • If you need to bypass a question once the Field has been started you can inactivate it using the Active/Inactive button in the Question tab.

Append

This command adds a new question at the end of the questionnaire. You can then fill in the various fields for the relevant attributes. You can also click on the +  button on the Design toolbar.

Insert a series of questions

This command is used to create a series of questions bearing the same choices. Once selected, complete the Series dialog box (for more details, see Creating a series). .

Copy questions...

Opens a window where you can select questions to copy, and specify the location as which the questions are to be copied:

Copy questions from...

Allows you to select another questionnaire from which to copy questions.

Once you have navigated to, and selected the questionnaire, you are prompted to select the question that you wish to copy (see Copy Questions above).

Activate/Deactivate

Activates/Deactivates the question(s) currently selected in the Question List. Questions that have been deactivated are not accessed when the questionnaire is running.

Activate All /  Deactivate All

These commands will Activate/Inactivate all the questions in the questionnaire.  They are equivalent to activating or deactivating all questions individually.

Activate / Deactivate selected questions

This command is the same as the Activate/Deactivate command. See above.

Delete selected questions...

Deletes the questions currently selected in the question list.

Move selected questions...

Moves questions currently selected in the Question List before the destination question that you pick from a pop-up list of question.

Previous /Next

Use these commands to move to and display the previous / next  question in the Question list. You can also click the equivalent buttons on the Design toolbar. The relevant information is then displayed in the current tab.

Go to

Use this command to move to and display a question whose alias you specify. The relevant information is then displayed in the current tab.

Find / Replace

These commands allow you to find and replace text strings in selected attributes  of questions.  You can choose which of the questionnaire’s languages you wish the commands to apply to.

Note: The options for the Replace command, other than the field in which to specify the replacement string, are identical to the Find command.
